Hot Keyboard Pro

I spent a huge amount of time searching the web to find a macro that was simple and quick to use, and most importantly quick to learn.

I use this macro every day to paste text, to paste chunks of HTML into message boards, to paste my URL, to paste my email address, to open files, and to launch webpages.

I almost wonder why Windows does not include such funcationality as standard.

Here is some of the blub from the hot-keyboard site:

What is a macro?
Macro is a set of commands that can be run using one key press. Often commands are repetitive and tedious. A macro lets you run them all from a single combination of keys, such as Ctrl-Alt-space.

What is an action?

Hot Keyboard defines an action as a typical computer-related task such as "open a web page", "execute a program", "type a commonly used word, phrase, paragraph or file", and others.

What is Hot Keyboard?

The purpose of Hot Keyboard is to enable you to create macros of various action types and assign them to hot keys that can be executed instantly. In addition, each macro can be run on a schedule.

How does Hot Keyboard work?

After you create a hotkey, Hot Keyboard hides itself in the system tray and works in the background. When you press a hotkey to run its macro Hot Keyboard runs it while remaining invisible.

With Hot Keyboard you can assign hot keys (or scheduler events) to

  • Paste text including date/time stamps, text files and more. Autoreplace text feature available (Pro version only)
  • Record/play sequence of keystrokes (Pro version only)
  • Record/play mouse movements and clicks (Pro version only)
  • Launch program file
  • Close, resize, minimize, maximize, activate windows on desktop
  • Minimize all windows on desktop
  • Start screen saver
  • Open folders including "My Computer", "Control Panel" and other system folders
  • Control sound volume. Mute/unmute feature supported
  • Establish dialup connection to the Internet
  • Open favorite web pages
  • Shutdown Windows
  • Control CD Player
  • Create reminders

Here is the main screen with my macros listed. I use CTRL + ALT + KEY for most macros, e.g. CTRL + ALT +F1.

Here is an illustration of how a macro is created. Input macro name. Select hotkeys that will launch the macro. Fill in specific fields.

Here is a macro that create the HTML code to insert a centred image in an HTML page.

This is typical of the type of text that I may insert using a macro.
