The programme of motorway building in the 1960s did a lot to improve the nation's infrastructure. Unfortunately, the traffiic has built up since to a stage where a large motorway building expansion programme is necessary. Note from the photograph how care has been taken to blend the M4 in with its environment - artists at the Tate could not have done as well!.
